The idea
One of the biggest steps a child takes.
The move from primary into secondary school brings new subjects, a faster pace, higher expectations, and the long stretch of the Junior Cycle waiting on the other side.
Klara supports children across that whole journey, from 5th class, into 1st Year and the early stages of the Junior Cycle. It focuses on the core subjects to give them confidence.
It doesn't replace the classroom or the textbook. It's the steady practice alongside them that stops hard won knowledge slipping away, keeping the fundamentals sharp and confidence building the whole way.
Why "Klara"
A name with Nordic roots.
In Swedish, klara carries two meanings that sit at the heart of what we do.
Clear and bright
Klar, the sense of light breaking through, of something once foggy suddenly making sense.
To cope, to pass
Klara also means to manage, to succeed. A Swedish child doesn't just sit an exam. They klara it. The method sticks, and they come out of the other side feeling capable.
So Klara isn't only about making things clear. It's about coming through the challenge, ready, confident, and able. That's the promise in the name, and it holds from the very first quiz right through the years that follow.
The method behind it
Every problem has a method.
A way through. Sometimes more than one, but there's always at least one you can learn, and once you've learned it, reuse. The hard part isn't working the method out fresh each time. It's having it locked in and ready, so that when a familiar shaped problem turns up, you already know the route.
Without that lock in, every question feels brand new, and brand new is what makes things feel hard, or even impossible.
Repetition is what locks it in.
Practise a method enough and it stops being something you work out and becomes something you simply do. The question that once looked impossible becomes routine, not because it got easier, but because you did.
How progress works
Five levels. Five shards. One crest.
Every topic in Klara is a gentle climb of five levels, and every topic opens with an empty crest waiting to be filled. Level 1 starts somewhere comfortable and each level after it steps up just a little, revisiting the same method rather than throwing something unfamiliar at a child. Clear a level and its shard is set into the crest for good, in its own colour and its own place. When the last one lands, the K appears in the middle.
There is no clock and no penalty for taking the scenic route. A level once cleared stays cleared, a child can drop back to easier ground any time, and nothing earned is ever taken away. Every crest is a topic genuinely worked through, not a badge for showing up.
Our strapline
Play : Learn : Achieve : Together
Four words, in order, because that's how it actually works.
A child who's enjoying themselves comes back tomorrow. Levels, shards and quick wins keep it a game, not a grind.
Real curriculum knowledge, quietly absorbed through repetition rather than pressure.
Progress you can see. Level by level, shard by shard, fog to clarity, klara.
Private family rooms and shared scoreboards mean learning happens alongside the people who care most.
Getting started
Free to begin, in full when you're ready.
A family sets up one private room, adds a profile for each child, and starts playing. No child needs an account of their own, and no child gives an email address.
Level 1 is free in every topic and every subject, with no time limit. A subscription opens Levels 2 to 5 for every child in the room.
Our goal
Ready, not anxious.
We want every child to move through those years feeling ready, core knowledge fresh, confidence earned, and the road from 5th class onward feeling less like a cliff edge and more like a series of natural next steps.
Clear minds. Bright starts. Klara.
